FAQ

  • What is the best time of year to take senior portraits?

Each high school has its own deadline for senior portraits, so it's crucial to be aware of your school's specific timeline. I recommend scheduling your senior session at least 2-3 months before your school's deadline to allow ample time for potential rescheduling due to weather or emergencies, as well as for editing and delivery of your images.

Senior sessions in Colorado it's important to consider the time of year when booking your senior session.

The optimal times for scheduling are from May through September when the landscape is vibrant. the days are warm, we have more light and there is time before yearbook deadlines.

  • Does Kim Graves Photography offer hair and makeup?

My style is style is deeply rooted in natural aesthetics. I do not utilize studios or studio equipment, nor do I offer hair and makeup services.

However, I am dedicated to ensuring seniors have access to top-tier services.

I do maintain a local list of vetted vendors for hair and makeup, whom you can confidently refer our clients to.

  • What time of day do we schedule senior sessions?

We always aim to do Senior Sessions an hour to an hour and a half before sunset. This is referred to as Golden Hour. Golden Hour provides the best light for our session.

I am currently scheduling sessions for the 2024 calendar year, which means your session could be as soon as next week or as far out as 11 months from now. In December golden hour could be as early as 3:15 PM, while in July, it might extend to as late as 7:00 PM.

Upon scheduling, I'll provide an approximate time, a couple of weeks before the session, I'll contact you to confirm the exact time. Punctuality is key for photography sessions as the sun moves swiftly, and we aim to capture the best light possible. I recommend aiming to be 15 minutes early to allow for some flexibility and ensure a smooth start to the session.

  • Can my senior have outfit changes?

Every senior is unique, some seniors want no outfit changes and some seniors want up to four! As a result I have created packages that offer different levels of outfit changes so we can get your unique style!

Outfit changes are a great way to ingrate your style and variety in your portraits. Often one causal outfit and one more formal outfit are a good way to go!

In The Yearbook Essential Senior Session I offer one outfit change. I do stick to this due to the limited time frame we have to work with in The Yearbook Essential Senior Session.

In The Classic Senior Session I offer 1-2 outfit changes. There is a longer time frame to fit in more than one outfit change.

In The Legacy Senior Session I offer 1-3 outfit changes, as well as, multiple locations. We can go up to as many as 4 outfits changes; however, I recommend against going beyond 4 outfit changes.
